What happened in Sochi, with what impressions and results did the Armenian delegation return? Ruben Rubinyan, member of the board of “Civil Contract” party, stresses that the movement that led to the change of power is a domestic political one, and it was not aimed at changing any foreign policy vector. “These intentions were confirmed in Sochi. Our task was to allay all fears and then to establish direct contacts with partner countries. I guess both objectives have been achieved,” he says.

Although the Armenian side once again confirmed its position regarding the issues of foreign policy directions, the commitment to international obligations, it stressed the problems within the framework of the EAEU. “A number of problems have been announced by us, a number of problems have been solved, and we have also received assurances in resolving a number of issues,” Rubinyan says. According to him, the visit was very positive. There was neither pressure nor tension. “Moreover, we felt ourselves to be the stars of this meeting,” the board member notes.

Rubinyan is sure that Armenia’s foreign policy should henceforth be based solely on the priority of the interests of Armenia and the citizens of the RA, and, therefore, the emphasis concerning certain issues can be changed. “The only thing that has changed is that now there is a legitimate prime minister and a legitimate government in Armenia, which gives a great opportunity to put Armenia's interests first in the foreign arena,” he says.
