Nika Babayan: The artist should be independent and proud, and not a courtier

The artists are spoiled by the office, money, medals and titles. If you corrupt a normal and independent person, then this is the "self-satisfaction of the king." The founder of the musical center "Kadans", Honored worker of culture of the Republic of Armenia Nika Babayan believes that all this has deeper reasons, moreover, in a sense, it is done on purpose. “The artist must be independent and proud, and not a courtier. I do not know whether it is good or bad when a creative person gets involved in politics. In the end, politics is a specialty. You can be a public figure, but not a political figure,” Babayan says.

According to the cultural figure, when deeply examining this area the face of the country is clearly delineated. “All ministries have medals; the mayor's office also has a lot of medals. However, you understand that all this is just a senseless formality,” Nika Babayan emphasizes. He notes with regret that the nation that has a civilized and ancient history is in an “awfully provincial state” in all fields for the time being.
