Vigen Hakobyan: Non-governmental forces participating in these elections conducted an imitation fight
Yerevan City Council elections were more than predictable. The RPA set itself the objective of forming an overwhelming majority while two non-governmental forces had to fight against each other for the opposition leadership. Analyzing the results of the elections, political strategist Vigen Hakobyan stresses that precisely such competition was conducted.
“In the case of the RPA, there could not be any changes since this, in fact, was a continuation of the parliamentary elections. The “draft work” was already done during the parliamentary ones,” he notes. As for the non-governmental forces participating in these elections, they conducted an imitation fight, allegedly, for a win.
"They tried to take a stance and increase their resources. For "Yerkir Tsirani" party, this was a new project and, most likely, the best option for an effective presentation of its new "brand". This is a win-win situation. Even if you gain 2-3% of the vote, you make noise, as is typical for this political force, in the online mode and place it on public display,” the political strategist emphasizes.
