Alexander Iskandaryan ։The current situation of the Artsakh conflict is ideal for Russia
The Minsk Group has not been engaged in the settlement of the Artsakh conflict for a long time; they deal with the management of the conflict. Political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan clarifies that the Minsk group is trying not to settle the conflict, but to reduce tension to a minimum. “Since it is really impossible to settle the conflict at the moment,” he notes.
According to Iskandaryan, no one owns political tools for the settlement of the Artsakh conflict, and non-political tools will not have any impact. “It is clear that you can force. The US, Russia, and France are superpowers: they have helicopters, aircraft, innumerable bombs. However, they will not oblige anyone: they simply do not have time for Artsakh, and if in 2008 they did not save Georgia, then they will definitely not come to save Artsakh,” the political analyst stresses.
As for Russia, then, according to Iskandaryan, the current situation is almost ideal for this country. “I have repeatedly said that Russia does not need two things in this territory: war and peace. Why? For a very simple reason: both the military and the peaceful situation will weaken the influence of Russians on the region,” the political scientist explains.
