Sargis Grigoryan։ Islamic extremism has become more active in the Caucasus.

Azerbaijan also forms part of the intensification of Islamic extremism.

The activation of Islamic radicalism is seen on the territory of the Caucasus. Arabist Sargis Grigoryan adds that there are areas in the Caucasus that are considered stash houses of Islamic extremists. “The activation of Islamic extremism also involves the dissemination of their ideas among the Caucasians. Azerbaijan also forms a part of these developments, and it is quite possible that in the Artsakh conflict we will also see people guided by these ideas who will try to give a religious note to the conflict," the Arabist notes.

Sargis Grigoryan believes that there is no danger of terrorism in Armenia. “The main risk is related to our communities as well as historical and cultural monuments that make up part of Armenia and are being under threat,” he says.

As for terrorism in general, the Arabist notes that today terrorism is closely connected with Islam. “Unfortunately, this is a fact; however, I always note that not all terrorists are Muslims, and not all Muslims are terrorists. Islam is a good faith, but there are separate groups that interpret the fundamental ideas raised in Islam in their own way,” Sargis Grigoryan adds.
