The models of Azerbaijan and Russia fully correspond to each other: Hovhannes Igityan

Russian media have long been nothing more than propaganda instrument.

There is no freedom of speech in Russia. Russian media have long been nothing more than propaganda instrument. According to the former chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on foreign affairs Hovhannes Igityan, Russia is gradually being isolated from the outside world. “When a country shirks human rights from accepted criteria, from the system of democratic institutions, it shows that it is following its own path. A vivid example of this is North Korea. Russia is following a similar path,” the former MP notes.

Igityan is sure in the 21st century, it is impossible to get isolated and develop. In addition, Russia does not care about the opinion of the international community. “They do not respect Russia, they are simply afraid that it can pass all bounds since no one knows what Putin is capable of,” he stresses.

According to Igityan, it is impossible to have an opposition in such countries as Russia, where there are no political discourses and the struggle of ideas. “Nothing is solved by elections in Russia. We ridicule the Asian countries where the power is inherited, but Putin does not have a son, and Medvedev is a ‘backup option’ for him,” Igityan says.

As for the Armenian-Russian relations, according to Igityan, the cooperation between the two countries is unilateral. Moreover, Russia has a more “pro-Azerbaijani” position. The models of Azerbaijan and Russia fully correspond to each other, as those of North Korea and Syria,” Hovhannes Igityan says.
