Russia’s number one partner in the region is Azerbaijan: David Shahnazaryan
We learn history, but we do not learn from history. Russia has not changed and will not change in the near future. David Shahnazaryan, senior analyst at the Regional Studies Center, notes that we should be guided by our interests.
David Shahnazaryan believes that the final settlement of the Artsakh conflict is a serious threat to Russia's presence throughout the region. “The fact that it could have been a very serious military operation for us unleashed by Azerbaijan on Russia's instruction and full military support of Russia is obvious," he says. The analyst does not exclude that those threats would be a lot serious if Serzh Sargsyan refused to join EAEU. "September 3 is supposed to be a result of unprecedented pressure,” Shahnazaryan notes.
