Andrey Areshev, expert at the Strategic Culture Foundation and a research fellow at the Centre for the Central Asia and Caucasus Studies, Institute of Oriental Studies, believes that the above-mentioned formulation is fully applicable to Armenian-Russian relations, as well as in the format of the Eurasian Economic Union.
With respect to Eurasian Economic Union, the Russian expert considers it a new structure, the advantages of which cannot yet be fully evaluated. “We cannot fully appreciate the advantages that there are and will be in the future, but there are advantages and I believe that the Armenian government has been guided by pragmatic motives, which has been widely expressed publicly,” he says.
