Armenia has “dried up” for investments: Bagrat Asatryan

In spite of the economic growth, the quality of life has not changed in Armenia.

The start of Karen Karapetyan’s government was ambitious, but with realistic programs. Economist Bagrat Asatryan continues and adds that though the official statistics show that the economic indicators exceeded the forecast, no change in standard of living has been recorded in Armenia.

“The core of these projects remains the same year by year: it is the fight against corruption and monopoly. These are obstacles the addressing of which cannot be a guarantee of economic development yet. It's time to approach the government's project in this regard,” Bagrat Asatryan says.

The economist recalls Serzh Sargsyan's 2008 pre-electoral program, where the export levels were planned to reach up to four billion in 2012, whereas half of this figure is considered an achievement in 2017.

In this context, Bagrat Asatryan does not consider Serzh Sargsyan’s statement to have a population of 4 million in 2040 realistic. “The population of all provinces of the RA decreases. We have border areas that are of strategic importance for Armenia. We even faced a phenomenon when the death rate exceeds the birth rate, that is, we do not have a natural increase,” the economist says. The details of the conversation in the program “Paradigm”.
