The expression “Presumption of innocence” is incomprehensible to many people since it has not been discussed much in Armenia. We often come across accusatory articles about suspects in the mass media. Recently, a media having a large audience published an article around a famous case saying: “The photojournalist reports that the monster, when being taken to the police, that jerk was hiding his ugly face”. Accusatory statements keep pouring over the suspect after the referred patch as well, and that person is already introduced as a killer. However, at the end of the same article the following is written: “Every person suspected in or charged with a criminal offense shall be presumed innocent until proven guilty in the manner prescribed by the RA Criminal Procedure Code and unless the verdict comes into legal force”. In a nutshell, if a person is still a suspect and there is no any court decision proving their guilt, then there is no right to consider him a criminal, moreover to publicize that with means of media.
