Suren Hovsepyan: It is impossible to protect the whole territory of the state under such weather conditions

Only nine percent of the land plots of Armenia is protected.

At present, 496 anti-hail stations are placed on the territory of the republic. With the correct location, one station protects 80 hectares of land. Deputy director of Armenian State Hydrometeorological and Monitoring Service" State Non-Commercial Organization Suren Hovsepyan, states that these stations are placed in eight regions of the country. "Only nine percent of the land plots of the republic is protected, and the total area of arable land is 450 thousand hectares," the deputy director says.


Suren Hovsepyan believes that it is impossible to protect the entire territory of the republic under such weather conditions since this would lead to an ecological disaster.
